FOllowing is heat treatment way of 20NiCrMoS2-2 1.6526 forging shafts
Normalizing: Normalizing is carried out at a temperature of approx. 910°C, followed by cooling in air. Thereby, the workability can be improved. Before case hardening, normalizing can be performed.
Soft annealing: Soft annealing is carried out at temperatures of 650°C - 700°C, with a slow cooling in the oven.
Tempering: The material 1.6526 can be tempered at 840°C - 870°C and is then quenched in oil or in the air.
Tempering: At 200°C - 700°C, a tempering treatment can be performed to improve toughness with minimal impact on hardness.

We should do following following NON-DESTRUCTIVE TEST for all 1.6526 forging bars
Verification inspection of all 1.6526 forged steel bars.
100% Ultrasonic inspection of all bars above 40mm size according to EN 10308 type 1a and 1c table 1). Acceptance criteria are as follows.
· d or (a,b) = 200mm quality class 4
· d or (a,b) = 200mm quality class 3
In general, the decision limit for loss of back wall echo is 3 dB and for the real reflector length max. 10mm.
The finished 1.6526 forged round bars shall be straight, sound and free from internal and surface defects viz., cracks,piping, scabs, laps, hairline cracks, etc. The bars shall be free from twists and bends.
, The surface of the bars shall be smooth without any laps, rolled in scales, etc. Dents roll marks and scratches are permitted provided their depth does not exceed half the tolerance limits specified
The following details shall be furnished in the test certificate of finished 20NiCrMoS2-2,1.6526 forged steel:
Heat No. , and melting type.
Dimensional inspection
Details of heat treatment cycle followed.
Results of chemical analysis including tramp elements.
Results of mechanical tests, including hardness test. All individual values shall be reported.Results of ultrasonic tests
